On Transiting Neptune

Transiting Neptune Entered Aquarius August 24th, 1998 and will leave February 3, 2012

Transiting Neptune is the planet of illusion, delusion, creativity, and divine inspiration. What a mix. Neptune is often vague and hard to understand and it isn't always easy to handle, because its energies are hard to define or explain.

If we don't use Neptune in a spiritual or moral and ethical way, its energies can cause us a lot of confusion, feuds, misunderstanding and head us in the wrong directions. Things become unclear and people tend to believe that which is not true and don't believe that which is true. So, you can see that people are often misguided as to what the truth or the reality is regarding transiting Neptune.

Neptune has a way of dissolving one's ego, people, places and things in our lives, just like Neptune dissolved the Berlin Wall. Transiting Neptune was in Capricorn, which rules structures, when the Berlin Wall just sort of dissolved and no one had a clue that this was going to happen at the time it did.

A Neptune transit on our natal sun can can cause us to have strange feelings. We can feel unworthy, undeserving, shameful, discouraged and disappointed. People experiencing a difficult Neptune transit in their natal chart sometimes find themselves a victim of some sort, because people often take advantage of your vulnerability during a Neptune transit. You could be abused by deceitful people and at its worst wind up on a missing person's list.

The difficulty of a Neptune transit comes when the structures built by Saturn are dissolved by the vapor of Neptune. Neptune can cause you to lose sight of your goals, your sense of responsibility, even  your own identity, whereby you coast along as a dreamer, a drifter, or someone who gets lost a lot or suddenly has a failing memory.

A negative Neptune transit in your natal chart could get you hooked on drugs, alcohol, prescribed pain pills, gambling, or some other addictive vice. You could literally fade away in some way, or knowingly disappear from a life that no longer holds any meaning for you. You could fall into a coma from an accident. You could become a hermit, or recluse because you find the world too harsh or too  cruel. You could become a nun, monk, priest, minister, or rabbi or turn yourself over to a cult. All these things are ruled by Neptune.

A positive Neptune transit in your natal chart could transform you into a creative genius. You could become a famous singer, artist, musician, humanitarian and produce works of art that live for hundreds of years to come. You could become a modern day Robin Hood and help the poor and underprivileged.

A Neptune transit can dissolve your sense of reality, leaving you prey to confusion and doubt, but if you were always a very structured person, with Neptune's help, you can learn how to adlib and fly by the seat of your pants as though you were on radar/sonar/automatic pilot, whereby structure is no longer needed. When you have a positive Neptune aspect in your natal chart, you can learn how to tell time without a watch, you just know. You just know a lot of things and you don't know why. Neptune is psychic.

With a positive Neptune transit you can break the habit of rigidity and control, because you won't need it anymore. Because you will act on the voice within, that "knowing" you just feel strongly, which when tuned into can lead you through anything unscathed. This is Neptune at its best.

With transiting Neptune in high focus in your chart, and if conjunct your natal Sun or in your sun sign you could doubt your own sanity or reality and wind up talking to yourself a lot more than usual (Neptune is currently transiting the sign of Aquarius). And in doing do, you could become a little paranoid, or neurotic. Or  you could become convinced you are losing your mind.

Neptune doesn't always allow you to know the full truth about some situations, because if you had all the facts, you may not attempt say yes to change, or take risks you wouldn't normally venture into. Sometimes Neptune can bring us blessings in disguise, but we don't always know it till much further down the road.

With transiting Neptune prominent in your natal chart you may feel you are right about everything, but more than likely you will feel you are wrong about everything. And you can hold such idealistic values and ideas that you really do go down wrong paths. With Neptune's idealistic, unrealistic nature you can set out to save the world in some way, or martyr yourself for a cause.

As Neptune dissolves your ego, you may feel like a big dark hole, empty inside, not knowing what is real and unreal, feeling like you lost your self and you don't know how or why. Neptune can really mess with your sense of identity.

A heavy Neptune transit could play havoc with your health, and your energy, feeling tired all the time, needing a ton of sleep. And while you are sleeping more you will dream more than you ever dreamed before, both good dreams and nightmares. You could develop asthma, corns, bunions, problems with your feet or develop allergies to all sorts of things.

If you know what you are dealing with when you have a strong Neptune transit in your natal chart you can follow the dream and wind up achieving blessings and experiences you never dreamed could happen to you. Neptune doesn't have to be a negative or unpleasant journey. Neptune can bring you rainbows and gifts more of a spiritual nature.

One positive way to work successfully with a Neptune transit is to develop a deeper faith or spiritual foundation. Prayer will be your salvation during a Neptune transit, because Neptune tends to put rose-colored glasses on things, people, circumstances and situations. Although a Neptune transit can cause chaos, confusion, uncertainty and  dissolve reality in your life, it doesn't mean that you should race right out and join religious groups, communes, or become a monk, minister, num, priest or rabbi. To do these types of things you could wind up making yourself a prisoner for a religious cause. Again, the victim signature of Neptune.

Another positive way to successfully handle a Neptune transit is to develop your creativity and artistic ability. Get involved in music, dancing, art, painting, decorating or some kind of hobby. Fight for animal rights, help save the environment, volunteer in the hospital and nursing homes, get involved in Hospice work, and feed the hungry during the holidays. These are all ways to successfully get involved with your Neptune transit.

Neptune can inspire you to great heights of creativity and spirituality and humanitarianism, like Einstein and Schweitzer. Learn to meditate daily in order to plug into that Divine Inspiration like a Pisces can do. Dare to dream, hitch  your wagon to a star and slide down the Milky-way, but do not lose sight of reality.  If you do, Neptune will victimize you in some form or another.
